Saturday 2nd July 2016 saw the first ever PROACTION family fun day, raising funds and awareness for our club charity: Niamh’s Next Step (a charity raising funds and awareness for research in to Neuroblastoma, a devastating cancer found in children).
What a huge success! With lead sponsors “Brackmills BID” (business improvement district) assisting in numerous areas including entertainment, facilities and getting the whole courtyard shut off, the day was set to be big. Attendance numbers are not exact, but are well over 1,000 people.
Too many people to mention individually, but all making a huge contribution to the day.
Teamwork, planning, effort and dedication made the day fun throughout with an amazing grand total raised a little over £2,030!! This, however, is only a small part of the story as NNS secured another business that will be raising funds for them in the future and thousands now aware of their fight to fund research and find a cure.
To everyone involved, I say a heart felt genuine THANK YOU.
From champion boxers, a book signing, through to business’ allowing us to use their car parking areas, and everyone in between, you all played your part. The impact of the day will be felt for a long time I am sure, and it is one we will repeat in the future. For now it will take some time to sink in as we reflect on the effort of so many to make a positive difference. I can’t thank you all enough. An amazing charity, and Proaction did it justice with an amazing day. Here’s to the next one!!!
